Grampians (Gariwerd) National Park Hiking

Short scenic hiking or longer granite peaks and sandstone ridges. It is all covered on this majestic, wonderful experience showcasing the best fauna and flora this nature abundant state of Victoria has to offer. Why not make it a multi-day trip?

Itinerary

The journey up to the mountains takes us through some great historic village towns like Beaufort and Aararat for a possible bakery stop competing for Australia's finest flakey pastries. Stories will be told of iconic Australian much loved essentials that were born near here, like Vegemite, and Aussie rules Football. But the target destination is Halls Gap, the heart of the Grampians national park. Where the stream runs through and wildlife wonders around, including eastern gray Kangaroos and Cockatoos.

We can start off by visiting Brambuk Cultural Centre for some morning tea and scones, followed by a memorable introduction to Aboriginal art and creations coming to be over many thousands of years. The views of this mountainous region surrounding us here are panoramic, let's be sure you use your experienced guide for great photos too! Explore the region as we stretch our legs amongst the Eucalyptus trees dotted all around this area, with more chances to see wild animals roaming about.

Grampians Hiking Tour

The paddock to plate options here are tasty to say the least, we will need to fuel up before we tighten up the walking shoes and enjoy some top spots like Baroka Lookout and The Balconies. Depending on your fitness level we soon consider the 200 plus steps down to breathtaking views of Victorias largest waterfall, Mackenzie falls. There is then an additional lengthy and moderately difficult walk up to the Pinnacle that is 4.2km and can take around 2 hours to complete. The fascinating rock formations can be seen on all the walks we do, as well as views of Halls Gap, Lake Bellfield and the Wartook area.

On the way back we may have a chance to delve into tasting some amazing wine of the area showcasing vintages of peppery Shiraz that the region is well known to produce, making the remaining journeys hours pass by a little more relaxed and maybe a nap in your comfortable ride may be needed as well to top it all off.

It is highly recommended to do the Grampians over 2 days, easing the need to rush to try to do as much as possible in what is nature's outstanding playground.
